Action Packed Weekend! (Solid Cards both Friday and Saturday scheduled at Hazel) by Track Announcer Mike Bozich

Hold on to your hats this weekend folks, as this very well maybe the best weekend of racing Hazel Park has seen in quite sometime, headlined by two tremendously competitive Invitationals, a Filly & Mare Preferred, three Open Paces, and one heck of an undercard on both nights.

Let's start on Friday night, where last week's Invite winner Yankee Monaco will greet 3 newcomers to "her" yard in the five horse affair in race 3. LT's Best, winner of 3 Invites in a row last year, trotted 1:58.1 in a judges workout. That is 2/5ths faster then Monaco won last week's Invite in. Armbro Approach, another major player in these ranks one year ago, began her 2008 campaign last week at Hoosier Park's top level finishing fourth in 1:56.2. Mr Superstar Triple Jumps up the class ladder tonight, but trotted in 1:58.1 in his win last week. And while we're at it, the fifth combatent Twin B Excalibur, finished 2nd last week in the featured.

Race 7 on Friday Night features 7 talented ladies in the F&M preferred. Last week's winner is back (Jinni's Fantasy N) and so is last week's 3rd place finisher (Jamirotoy). Dividend Dar is absent this week, but as always, the Kennedy Administration has a replacement in the form of Renaissance Woman, who only went one of the meet's fastest miles last week in a F&M Open under very minimal urging. She missed the track record by 1/5th of a second last year, and will be teamed up once again with Mr Micallef tonight.

Race 9 is an Open Trot and this one is going to be a wild one. Team Kennedy sends out another one of his usual suspects (Marjorie Hall) who is going tonight for the first time in 20 days. She is the ML favorite tonight (for crying out loud she should be) but the competition is stiff, as you have 3 horses stepping down from the Invite. Wattafine has a graceful late kick, but was in no position to use it last week. Upsidedown is a solid Invite horse when he is in top form, and the 1:59 clocking last week in a needed race strongly suggests he's close. How about JB's Double Desire. She is only the track record holder for older mare trotters, but she hasn't been in the money in her last 3, and has only 1 win on the year after tallying 13 in that column a year ago.

Saturday Night is a very solid card. Race 3 is a five horse Invite that anyone can win. As a matter of fact, it is so competitive that the longest shot in the ML is the horse that won it last week (Infinite Justice). If she does it this week, I will jump aboard the "Justice" bandwagon. But until then, Action Figure remains the one to beat, especially now that he has a race under his belt. Ataboyart makes his 2008 debut, qualifying in 156.1 at Hoosier. The Buckeye/Wolverine winner from a year ago also was several Invites in 2007 here at HP. What about PRVO? Is form turning against him after a series of knock down drag outs? Including a few North of the border (3 races at Woodbine and 3 of the worst trips known to horse). Not liking the fact that he got the half in :58 last week and crumbled like a house of cards down the straight. And of course, no Invite would be the same without a member of the Kennedy Administration (PC's LEO). Short field really fits in well with his racing style and his second place finish last week was great considering they were going slower then an egg truck on a Detroit area service drive.

Race 7 is the bottom Open and Team Kennedy's Multiple Choice won this race last week, and being there is no where to go for him, he is assigned post 7. I would normally say it wouldn't matter, however the ultra talented Downtown Showdown is a dangerous horse that is bound for good things sooner rather then later.

Race 9 (High End Open) features the returning 3 Year Old Michigan Champion Colt Biletnikoff. Speaking of talented race horses, he paced a 1:55.4 in a needed start at the Creek, but look at the move this guy made last week. From last to first between the 1st quarter and the half , in a 1:24.4 third quarter. He should be getting tighter every start. Team Kennedy sends Surrounded to the plate, and as every other Kennedy horse seems to do, he homered in his last at bat. His PP is assigned as well.

Many other top notch horses going in other classes such as Itchy (19 career wins of 82 career starts), Front Page (Superior victory last week weaving his way between rivals to win in the meet's fastest time to date), Singin Blues (A very explosive move just 5 days ago to win in a needed start), Winbak Noah (Winner by 17 lenghths last week and is 2 for 2 in Michigan), and Lotsa Power (Confident in victory in :56.1).

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the stars are out this weekend. Come on out this weekend and Let's Rock!
